Writers' Club

Writers' Club In-Person

Are you a writer? Whether or not you’re published, you can benefit from this supportive writer’s group. Listen to informative talks on a variety of writing-related topics and meet other writers and aspiring writers. Led by local author/editor Brian Forrester. For ages 13+.

Topic: An Author’s Guide to Book Clubs: How To Show Up and Shine

Ever wonder what you’re supposed to say at a book club when everyone’s looking at you? Do you worry about how to handle that one reader who really didn’t like your ending?
In this practical workshop, you’ll learn how to:

• Tailor your tone to match the group’s vibe

• Ask great questions that spark thoughtful responses

• Field off-topic conversation without losing your flow

• Prep personal stories that make you unforgettable (in a good way!)

• Connect with readers so they stay with you for the long haul

This free Williamsburg Regional Library workshop is led by Brian Forrester, the author of two young adult novels and an award-winning copywriter for a Williamsburg marketing agency. His newly released book is Color The Sky With Song. Presenter Janet Morris Belvin is the author of five books, including Southern Stories from the Porch Swing and The Refuge. Her newest book, The Amazing Grace, recently hit bookshelves.
