Whodunnits In-Person

WhoDunnits is a discussion group devoted to mysteries of all kinds. The group explores a diverse array of subgenres, geographic locations, and historical periods. Though occasionally members are encouraged to share a mystery they've read (Free Reads), most months focus on a single book read by the whole group. The WhoDunnits mystery book club meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

This month's read: The Mountains Wild by Sarah Stewart Taylor

A series debut set in Dublin and New York introduces homicide detective and divorced mom Maggie D'Arcy, who in the wake of a disappearance and new clues reopens the investigation into her cousin's disappearance 23 years earlier.

"Layers of Dublin details will ensnare biblio-travelers, and this series starter offers a compelling introduction to Maggie D’arcy as she faces her life’s mystery, struggles to reconcile the deterioration of her relationship with Erin, and explores possibilities with an unforgettable love interest. Taylor, a mystery veteran, shifts into noirish territory after her humorous Sweeney St. George series, and it works just fine." -- Booklist

"Taylor skillfully switches time periods from 1993 to 2016 in an atmospheric mystery that blends the history and romance of Ireland with a contemporary police investigation. This outstanding book will please fans of mysteries set in Ireland and readers of police procedurals." -- Library Journal
