Emerging Scholars: The Chemical Fireflies of Molecular Microscopy

Emerging Scholars: The Chemical Fireflies of Molecular Microscopy In-Person

Each firefly species has a unique flashing pattern used to communicate information. Similarly, fluorescent dyes used in biological and medical imaging emit a unique blinking pattern. In this talk by Chloe Autry, master’s student in chemistry at William & Mary, learn how a specialized technique called Blink Based Multiplexing, or BBM, can potentially differentiate between blinking patterns of a single molecule that communicate important information, offering possible advances in medical diagnostic procedures.

The Emerging Scholars Series is offered in partnership between the Graduate Center at William & Mary and the Williamsburg Regional Library. The series features W&M graduate students in talks hosted by the WRL intended to bring cutting-edge research to the local community.
