This month's read: James, by Percival Everett. In a twist on the Huck Finn story, the man escaping from enslavement takes on the leading role and shows what was happening to him during Huck's adventures. To survive, he must change at the drop of a hat, from an intelligent and philosophical individual to the cliche image of a Black man in America. Filled with Everett's pointed satire and outright humor, it's also an intriguing look at an American classic.
