One Book One Community: African-American Life During the Revolution In-Person

From Lord Dunmore’s 1775 formation of the Royal Ethiopian Regiment to the end of the war at Yorktown, Loyalist blacks in Virginia were estimated to number in the thousands. Their position was dangerous because any time the British arrived it threatened and destabilized patriot master/slave relations as their "world turned upside down." What was life like for Black people during the Revolutionary War? Presented by Harvey Bakari of the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation.
