Tracy Matthew Melton, President of the Historic Rivers Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists, will discuss how our residential landscapes dramatically influence what happens in our local fields & woods. Some non-native plants have bad habits such as rapid growth and aggressive spreading through seeds and roots. This enables them to crowd out native trees and plants, which are essential to attract birds & pollinators & other wildlife. Please join us to learn how you can make a difference, starting in your own yard.

Free plants will be available after the conclusion of the presentation on native and non-native plants. Plant experts will be available to provide suggestions regarding which plants are most likely to thrive in your yard.
