Explore Archaeology Through Artifact Washing In-Person
Join us this October for Archaeology Month, where both the US and Virginia celebrate archaeology, or the study of past cultures through the items left behind! There's more than just digging, and in this engaging program, the Fairfield Foundation will delve into the world of archaeology, focusing on discoveries from the Middle Peninsula and Hampton Roads. Participants will have the unique opportunity to wash and examine artifacts from one of their ongoing excavations, gaining firsthand experience of what happens after a dig. This hands-on activity allows you to "become an archaeologist" for the day while learning about the techniques and stories behind these remarkable finds.
